FREEDOM: A SHARED DREAM
SCULPTURE AS SYMBOL 

How to symbolise the symbolic? Not to get into Inception levels of symbolism here, but the problem was real. The Farhang Foundation commissioned artist Cecil Balmond to create a sculpture commemorating the Cyrus Cylinder – one of the first declarations of human rights created by Persian ruler Cyrus the Great. Literalism or mimicry was out the window. The aim was to explore the spatial 3D and extract the soul. A cross section captured the complexity of the sculpture, helping us move into 2 dimensions without compromise. The branding for Freedom – A Shared Dream crept through the streets of Beverly Hills via roadside banners and found a permanent home in commemorative artist's book
